1. Q: How safe is Smart Parking System?


A: Smart Parking is equipped with protection and security devices. Photo sensors are installed on key locations inside the system (rear, front and car existence sensors). It is also equipped with over-current relay and emergency stop devices as well as fall prevention device (double guide rail). Pallets have guide lines, tire channels and over-run stopper to prevent the car from moving while parked. Other safety features of Smart Parking are mirrors for parking assistance, lights and sound warnings during operation and perimeter fencing.


2. Q: Can the Smart Parking System withstand earthquake?


A: Yes, Smart Parking can withstand earthquake of up to MMI scale 9, which is equivalent to 7 on the Richter scale. Just like any other buildings, it is important to have a good foundation for the system. Foundation specification is provided for Smart Parking installation.


3. Q: What are the advantages of Smart Parking compared to conventional multi-level parking?


A: Building multi-level steel parking takes months to complete. During these months, the parking facility usually suspends its operation until the building is constructed. Smart Parking can be installed in a span of 5 to 7 days. We can install Smart Parking without shutting down the operation of the whole parking facility. Its small footprint, which only occupies 2 parking slots (31.5 sq. m.) can accommodate up to 16 cars. Theoretically, say for a 50 slot parking lot, Smart Parking can make it up to a maximum of 400 slots. Actual number of slots depends on traffic flow direction, plot share and size, and height limitation. A 3-storey steel parking can only have 150 slots. Ramps may also consume some of areas, thus reducing the number of slots. In Smart Parking, since the cars are elevated, theft and vandalism are also prevented.


4. Q: In case of power failure, how can we park/retrieve our vehicle?


A: Stand-by Generator Set can be installed in the system if in case power failure occurs. If there is no generator, we can manually release the motor brakes and the pallets will slowly rotate down by gravity.


5. Q: How can Smart Parking be profitable?


A: Smart Parking is profitable since a 2 parking space can accommodate up to 16 cars. Dead spaces beside buildings can be useful and profitable as well. Claddings and billboards can also be installed in Smart Parking earning extra profit on advertisements.


6. Q: How long is the operational life of Smart Parking?


A: Smart Parking can last up to 15 years, and with proper maintenance, it can last another 15 to 20 years.


7. Q: How about the after-sales service for Smart Parking?


A: After we install the Smart Parking, we provide 2 years warranty coverage on parts and service. Spare parts and technician can be provided on site during the warranty period. After the warranty, maintenance schedule is implemented. Maintenance schemes are provided and agreed upon before start of installation.


8. Q: Does it require an operator?


A: Permanent staff or operator is not required. It can be operated by the driver itself. But in some cases (given the novelty of the product), the presence of at least one operator on the premises is possible. RFID is also an option that is available for long term users.


9. Q: Where is Smart Parking made?


A: The production facility is located in South Korea, all the gear motors of Smart Parking are manufactured by the well-known German company SEW-EURODRIVE.


10. Q: What is the usual parking/retrieval time for Smart Parking?


A: Smart Parking is designed to rotate both directions via a shortest route. Retrieval time depends on the position of the car. Using SM12L as an example, it takes about 140 seconds to bring the top most car down but only takes about 30 seconds to bring the second level car down. On average, you should be able to retrieve your car under 120 seconds.
